In the quiet village of Sinnar, where golden wheat fields stretch toward the horizon, Ankush Godase was born to the rhythm of farming life. The year was 1989, and like generations before him, his family cultivated their precious five acres of land, their livelihood rooted in the soil they cherished. But young Ankush harboured dreams that reached beyond the farm's boundaries. While other children played in the village streets, he spent two dedicated years at the Defense Academy, his heart set on serving his nation. In 2007, that dream became a reality when he proudly donned the uniform of the Indian Army.
For seventeen years, Ankush stood guard over his country's borders as a soldier. It was during his posting in Rajasthan's harsh desert landscape that fate planted a new seed in his mind. Between his duties, he found himself drawn to the local goat farms, watching the hardy animals thrive in the unforgiving terrain. In those moments, a vision of his future began to take shape.
June 2024 marked not an ending, but a new beginning. As Ankush prepared for retirement as a Lance Naik at the Pune BEG & Center, a fortuitous encounter with the Bajaj I Create India Entrepreneur Workshop illuminated his path forward.
Armed with knowledge and determination, Ankush returned to his village as a man on a mission. His military precision served him well as he methodically built his dream: a sturdy shed rising from the earth at the cost of two lakh rupees, followed by the careful selection of fifty Shirohi breed goats, at an investment of three lakh rupees. His father's farm, which once sustained his childhood, would now provide fodder for his future.
Looking ahead, Ankush's eyes light up as he describes his plans. Within a year, his initial investment will multiply into a hundred healthy kids, each commanding 6,000 rupees at market. "From protecting borders to nurturing life," he says with quiet pride, "every step has led me here."
In his journey from soldier to entrepreneur, Ankush carries forward the same dedication that marked his military service. With gratitude, he acknowledges the Bajaj I Create India team's role in transforming his battlefield expertise into business acumen. As his goats graze peacefully on his ancestral land, Ankush stands tall – a testament to the power of reinvention and the courage to pursue new dreams after years of service to the nation.
