From the fertile fields of Venkatapuram, where his parents tilled the earth under the Andhra Pradesh sun, rose a warrior with dreams bigger than his family's 4 acres. Mastan Vali Shiak wasn't destined to follow the plough – his heart yearned for something more. Though his mother, the family's guiding star, envisioned academic success for her son, young Mastan's spirit burned with a different fire. The classroom walls felt too confining for a soul that craved adventure. After the 10th standard, while others marched toward college, Mastan chose the warrior's path. The rigorous selection process of the Indian Army tested every fiber of his being, but his determination prevailed. The proud gates of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Belagavi opened to welcome a young man who would give over two decades of his life in service to his nation.
As retirement loomed in October 2023, Mastan faced the crossroads that many veterans dread – the transition to civilian life. What began as a simple idea to open a grocery store transformed into something far more meaningful when fate led him to I Create India's Workshop. In those sessions, the soldier discovered his inner entrepreneur. The workshop didn't just teach him business fundamentals; it reignited the same spark of courage that had once driven a farmer's son to don the uniform.
Armed with the I HOPE mantra – Idea, Homework, Opportunity, Planning, and Execution – Mastan launched his new mission. His market research revealed an unmet need in his community, and by April 2024, he had invested Rs.5 lakhs of his hard-earned savings into a vision: bringing quality water storage solutions to the people of Venkatapuram. More than just a business, he created hope – including a job for a local youth, spreading the opportunity he had been given.
Through it all, his family stood as his foundation. His wife, a pillar of strength, manages their home while nurturing their daughter's educational dreams – ensuring that the next generation will soar even higher. In quiet moments, Mastan finds solace in books, feeding his mind with knowledge that fuels his business acumen.
Today, Mastan stands proud – no longer just a soldier, not merely a businessman, but a testament to the power of reinvention. In his success story echoes the wisdom of his mother, the discipline of his military service, and the transformative impact of proper guidance. As he looks at his thriving business, he carries a debt of gratitude to MLIRC and I Create India for showing him that a warrior's spirit can find new battlefields of achievement in the world of enterprise.
